Legal Framework And Validity

Antique Classic and Vintage Registration Plates in Pennsylvania

Legal Framework and Validity

The use of antique, classic, and vintage registration plates in Pennsylvania is regulated by Section 1340 of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code. Both antique and classic registration plates remain valid for the lifetime of the vehicle as long as the ownership remains unchanged.

Transfer of Ownership

In the event that the vehicle is sold, the registration plates cannot be transferred to the new owner. The new owner must obtain a new set of registration plates for the vehicle.

Antique Vehicle Registration

To register an antique vehicle in Pennsylvania, the following requirements must be met: * The vehicle must be at least 30 years old. * The vehicle must be in good working condition and meet all safety requirements. * The owner must provide proof of ownership, such as a title or bill of sale.

Specially Constructed Antique Car Tags

In addition to antique vehicle registration, Pennsylvania also allows for specially constructed antique car tags. These tags are available for vehicles that are not 30 years old but meet the following criteria: * The vehicle must be built to resemble an antique vehicle. * The vehicle must be built according to a homemade vehicle manual. * The owner must provide documentation of the vehicle's construction.
