Early trends in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in India show that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is leading in nearly 300 seats.
Most exit polls had predicted a comfortable win for Mr. Modi's party, with the India Today-Axis My India poll projecting 361-401 seats for the NDA and 131-166 seats for the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
The outcome of the election is in little doubt: Mr. Modi's BJP is strongly favored to return to power.
In 2019, the NDA won 64 seats, of which the BJP alone grabbed 62. The Congress won only one seat, while the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) won 10.
